Looking for Venus Second Edition

1st edition: 2013-2019. 2nd on-going, started 2025.
One should not fall into the trap of expected looks, but just embrace the ‘venus within’, feel good about it and just be, how you are.
No modelling experience is necessary.
All bodies welcomed.
The participation is free.
Participation possible in Gdansk (PL) and Keflavik (IS).
The plan
This project is one of my leading activities – empowering art photo sessions for women. The feminine self-esteem, confidence and self-perception are the very core of not only this, but many other photo projects I run.
After a well perceived first edition that had it’s premiere in 2019, there was an intentional gap made. With some of the first participants we were already then working on a life-long project “As years go by”, so it’s combination with “Looking for Venus” was just a matter of time.
Starting in 2025, the project is back and will carry on as on-going.
2013 – 2019: The beginning
24 participants joined the project and found it either challenging or very natural for them to stand on the photo set in the pose of Boticelli’s “Venus”.
Photos were combined into a one large artwork, with all postures lined up and presented on a 4m wide print.
The piece was later referred by some viewers as a unique set of prefect imperfections and a proof that we all are both same and individual, just as we are. Many female spectators found it encouraging to see postures resembling their own and loudly applauded participants and the artwork.
2025+: The second round
Very proud to say, that when I started first edition – some of the participants already took part in my other projects before. Even happier to say, that some of them were also the first ones to come back after more than 12 years to repeat their first shots.
Therefore, the second edition will include both new entries and a timelapse registration, thanks to some of the earlier participants standing there as Venuses, again.
The second set will hopefully take some longer time, to add more and more new participants to the project. It will be also possible for new ones to come back after any time they want, to repeat their shots and register themselves, being Venuses for their whole life regardless age or other people’s opinions or expectations.
